Rock and roll evolved in the 1940's from African American blues music. Rock stars came on the scene in the 60's, 70's and 80's. Classic rock stars were the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Gene Simmons and Mick Jagger. Their clothes are glamorous, rebellious and comfortable. Elvis Presley was a rock star in his own right, even though his music can better be described as “rockabilly.”
